During the 1930s, countries around the world tried to emerge from the global economic recession that erupted in the late 1920s. In Israel, the situation was different: the fifth aliyah flowed into the land of capital that led to growth in economic and industrial development, thousands of youths arrived in Israel trained for work and agricultural life. About 50 wall and tower settlements were established along the borders and in isolated places. Tel Aviv became a city of leisure and entertainment, restaurants, cafes and theaters were opened.
